I read all these reviews and all but one talk about how great the "Ranger" is, well my experience was not the best. Made me want to leave and If I didn't just put up my tent and have 3 children with me I would have. We got there and got the tent up and went to the fishing pier well there where people already on it so I stop just of it and pull down to the water (on rock/gravel aka NOT the GRASS - the water is real low right now) and we wasn't hurting anything or anyone and guess the Ranger had a power complex or something he made me move my vehicle back to a parking lot that was about 500ft back. If there a law that says you cannot drive your truck on a river bank I guess you need to haul me away. But the bigger issue was how he went about it, he was punk about it and just rude.
I highly doubt we will come back.
Very nice State Park. Stayed two nights in campground. Granddaughter enjoyed the playground. We relaxed around the campfire. Very peaceful. Rangers were very helpful. Will return.
Amazing place. My grandfather built this park. Proud to be part of his family.

This is a beautiful state park. There are great trails through the hills and along the TN river. Some parts of the trail do need better markings though. The two backcountry shelters are a nice plus, though they are quite primitive. We stuck to our tents. Fire pits are also nice. Nicest rangers around too.
It's very peaceful but if fishing you have to drive car if camping in main campground. It's got steep hills. If bringing pets they don't have a great place to walk them. If you have kids you have to drive them to playground or swimming area. Now you can catch lots of fish on the TN River. It's pretty but really secluded. Does not have full hookups.
